The Shape/Selection tools are accessible via the {{:singlepoint32.png?nolink|Shape}} **Shape** icon found in the main upper toolbar under '[[home_tab|Home]] > Selection'.

**Options found in the pull-down ↓**     
    
  
{{:singlepoint32.png?nolink|Single Point}} Point (default)

Often used for selecting a point as the center of rotation. Other uses include selecting points for taking measurements, creating clipping volumes, and viewing single point and/or point cloud information such as a scan name or a scan point's coordinates. This selection tool is also used for picking objects, such as the measure box, volume box, scan location indicators, and piping components.

Used to select several points. Most often used for fitting planes inside the [[volume_tools|Volume]] tools.

:!: Note: To clear a multi point selection, the 'Shape' tool must be set to Multi point.

**Area Selection Tools**


The following 4 selection tools are used to select points for creating meshes, exporting sections of scan data, or assigning points to a Point Group.

Used to make a box shaped selection of points.

Used to make an oval or circle shaped selection of points.

Used to make a custom polygon shaped selection of points.

Used to make a lasso selection of points.
